The second stop of our tour is the ancient Roman town Herculaneum located in the territory of the existing commune of Ercolano.
After the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, the city was buried by meters of lava, but in 1709 the ancient ruins came to light, together with those of the nearby Pompeii. After continuous work has re-emerged a city that still preserves its structure and its furnishings, such as folding doors, peristyle, mosaics, paintings and household objects. Since then, Herculaneum was entirely discovered with all its old findings and with 250 skeletons of its inhabitants killed by the glowing cloud.
During the third stop you will be admiring Mount Vesuvius a lively volcano located east of Naples. Vesuvius is a sight of unusual beauty in the landscape of the Gulf with its wonderful view from the sea with the city skyline. Today Vesuvius is the most monitored and studied.
