Shore Excursions Pompeii and Vesuvio

Pompeii holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Following the eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in the year 79 AD, the prosperous town of Pompeii lay buried and forgotten for hundreds of years. The excavations still go on, giving us resources from the Roman time. After the visit of homes with their original frescoes, bathhouses and other public buildings, there is free time for lunch.

Then there is a bus ride up to the height of 3,000 ft on the volcano, from where you can walk to the crater. Visit accompanied by authorized mountain guide. Mount Vesuvius dominates the Bay of Naples. It is the only active volcano on the mainland of Europe.

The slopes are covered with vineyards and woods and provide an innocent looking backdrop for the bustling town below. The coach will take you to the altitude of 1,000 metres, from where you can walk to the very top and admire splendid panoramic views across the bay. Remember to bring comfortable shoes (not sandals) and your camera.

You can choose: Full day journey-lasts about 8 hours, (include the whole tour) or Half day journey -last about 4 hours, (include only the drive at your choice to one of the two ruins : Pompeii, Herculaneum or to Vesuvius only) Smart Tips: Apply for a genuine basket lunch, including a fresh baked bread rolls, with fresh tomatoes, basil, mozzarella and some home made vegetables in olive oil. Within a cost of 5 euro per person, you will also have a fresh fruit and mineral water.
