With its 12,26 meters, Pianosa, although built in 1947 (by the yard Cataldo Aprea of Marina Grande, the same who oversaw the recent restoration), is faithful, shapes, lines and sails, tradition ultratracentenaria the shipyards that once characterized the entire Tyrrhenian coast. After a troubled life's work, the Pianosa has been meticulously renovated keeping the wood, the hardware and the traditional cordage of its origin.

The ship has been declared "of cultural interest" by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. The boat has a fascinating story about the "justice" but the two sides of the fence: for many years was the official boat of prisoners consigned to the prison from which it takes its name, but at the beginning of his career and with other owners, has probably exercised less official activities including the "smuggling".
